CMU Law Courses and Public Law Minor

The classes below are just a few of the law classes that are scheduled on a regular basis (at least once per year, every year). Although they are technically within areas such as Political Science and Business, all of these classes are open to all majors and have zero or very few pre-requisites.

Additionally, a Public Law minor is now available at CMU! This minor is meant for students interested in public interest law, which includes a wide range of legal areas (constitutional law, criminal law, civil liberties, civil rights, immigration law, international law, environmental law, trial advocacy, administrative law, regulatory law, and many others). You can pair it with a Law & Economics major or a Legal Studies minor to get the full breadth of legal offerings here at CMU, or pair it with any other major or minor to add some law classes to your resume.

Learn about the American judicial process, including federal and state courts, the roles of judges and other actors, civil and criminal justice processes, and judicial policymaking.
