Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a fantastic Spring Break! This week in news, I have a couple of important events coming up to tell you about.
Hear Me, See Me Series: Know Your Rights
This Thursday, March 20 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. in ANS 162, come hear from a panel of legal experts with knowledge about the Constitution, civil liberties and civil rights, immigration, and law enforcement. They will be discussing the recent actions taken by the Trump administration over the last few months and what effect those actions may (or may not) have on individual rights and the lives of our CMU community. We’ll also be answering any questions students may have about their rights and responsibilities as students and community members.
We have a fantastic panel lined up, including a Circuit Court judge, CMU’s General Legal Counsel, and one of the leaders of the CMU Campus Police. (I will be on the panel as well, but as you can ask me questions anytime, we will primarily focus on our guest panelists.)
We will also be providing pizza, so make sure to come hungry! I’ve attached a flyer for the event. Reach out with any questions, and I hope you see you there!
Pre-Law Advising Night
Although I don’t have all the details for this event quite yet, save the date for our Spring semester Pre-Law Advising Night. It will be on Tuesday, April 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the UC. There will be pizza and other snacks, as well as Pre-Law stickers (free) and Pre-Law t-shirts ($5). If you haven’t had a chance to snag some of the new pre-law stickers or our awesome t-shirts, this is a great time! I’ll be available to answer any questions, discuss your law school (or gap year) plans, help you figure out what’s next, discuss LSAT study materials (some of which I’ll have available to borrow), and anything else you want to talk about.
I’ll provide room information as we get closer, but in the meantime, let me know if you have any questions about Advising Night. I hope to see you there as well!
That’s all for this week. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Kyla
