Welcome to the last week of the semester! I hope your final exams are going well so far. This will also be our last newsletter of the semester, so please read take a few minutes to read through it.

New Pre-Law Advisor

As many of you already know, we have welcomed a new advisor to the Pre-Law Center this year, Dr. Tony Jesuale. He will be your primary contact next semester while I am on sabbatical. Please reach out to him with any and all pre-law questions about resources, law school applications, LSAT prep, law courses, law majors and minors, and anything else pre-law related. He also has pre-law t-shirts and stickers, LSAT prep books and practice tests, and other helpful resources.

That being said, I will still be around and will be checking my email regularly, so feel free to reach out to me directly if you want to follow up on prior discussions we have had, give me an update on your law school applications, or with anything else you’d like to discuss with me.

Current Law School Cycle Applicants

If you plan to apply this cycle (to begin law school next fall) and have not yet submitted all of your applications, I strongly recommend doing so ASAP. Early numbers have been released by LSAC, and this year has seen yet another increase in the number of applications and the number of applicants. If that continues, it means that law schools will be more selective in who they admit AND that they will run out of scholarship money earlier than in the past. So get those applications in!

Graduating Seniors

If you are graduating this semester, congratulations!! I am so happy for all of you and can’t wait to see what your futures have in store for you. Please, please, please keep in touch so I can know how you are doing in law school, your summer law jobs, jobs after graduation, etc. I will always be available for questions or advice, or just to vent to when you are losing your mind in school and need someone to talk you out of quitting. If you are taking some gap time before law school, remember that I am here for alumni advising as well, so please let me know when you are ready to take the LSAT or apply to law school, and I am more than happy to help when the time comes!

I do have one final request for graduates, whether you are going to law school next year or not - please take a couple of minutes and email me to let me know your plans for next year and/or for law school (you can just reply to this email!). I am trying to keep track of our CMU alums and where they end up. Additionally, I would love to have a list of alumni who are willing to talk to future pre-law students about the law schools they chose and to answer questions from them about the school, what to avoid, tips and strategies, and other wisdom you'll learn after a year (or several) in law school. Even if you are going far away to law school, or taking some gap time, please take just a moment to let me know. I appreciate it!

Good luck finishing out the semester and with final exams! We’ll be back with our next pre-law newsletter in January. In the meantime, make sure to reach out with any questions!
