Good morning!

Welcome to Week 1 of the fall semester! I hope the new semester is going smoothly for everyone so far. As promised last week, I have some further information this week about pre-law RSOs, upcoming pre-law events, and other items. I will have more details about each of the upcoming meetings and events (including locations) early next week, so for now, just save the dates!

Phi Alpha Delta

Phi Alpha Delta is a professional pre-law fraternity directed towards students with a law future. P.A.D is dedicated to preparing any student who wishes to go to law school by providing them access to a slew of resources. During meetings, students will be able to hear from law schools, connect with other students, learn LSAT preparation tips, build their application skills, and much more.

PAD First General Meeting: September 4 at 6:30 p.m.

If you’re a student with plans to go to law school, Phi Alpha Delta is the perfect organization to prepare you for that endeavor! Please contact Mason Pickard with any questions and/or to be added to the email list at picka1ma@cmich.edu.

National Black Law Students Association

Are you passionate about the law or curious about the legal field? Come meet the NBLSA E-Board and learn about how we support Black students interested in law. Everyone is welcome to join! Contact Taelor Orr with any questions and/or to be added to the email list at orr1t@cmich.edu.

NBLSA Social Hour: September 12 at 5 p.m.

Women in Law Association

This RSO is perfect for all women who are at all interested in any legal career/field. It will feature all kinds of opportunities such as guest speakers, LSAT/Law school prep, social events, and more! There is also availability for leadership positions to build your resume. If this opportunity sounds interesting to you, stop by a meeting or contact Izzy Ellul at ellul1im@cmich.edu.

WILA First General Meeting: September 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming Pre-Law Events

Beyond the informational RSO meetings mentioned above, there are several other meetings, events, and workshops coming up pretty quickly this semester.

Pre-Law Kickoff & Info Night – Monday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.

Law School Application Workshop – Monday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.

LSAT Workshop – Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m.

Law Majors, Minors, and Certificates

As the semester kicks off, if you need to sign a Public Law minor, a Lawmaking and Legal Processes certificate, a Political Science major/minor, or have any questions about any of CMU’s law-related programs, please let me know! You can sign up for an advising meeting or just shoot me an email. Let me know how I can help!

Pre-Law Email List

Lastly, I have attempted to update my pre-law email list to be as current as possible, including the removal of students who have started law school and those who have told me they no longer plan to go to law school. However, it is likely that I missed some people who have no interest in receiving emails from the Pre-Law Center. If you would like to be removed from my pre-law email list, please just respond to this email and let me know.

As always, please reach out with any questions or if I can help in any way.

Have a great first week!
