Spring 2024 Newsletter: Week 4

Updated: Feb 21

Good afternoon!

As we begin Week 4 of the semester, I just have a couple of thoughts for you all this week.

Registration for Next Year

For those of you not graduating in May, registration for next year (including Summer 2024, Fall 2024 & Spring 2025) opens in about 2 weeks. I recommend checking out the schedule of courses online now to start making a plan so that you can register right away when you are able. As always, I am available to help you choose law courses to register for and to answer any questions you have about any of the law courses offered at CMU.

This is also a great time to consider your choice of major (for those who haven’t signed one), second major (if you are looking for one), and/or first or second minor(s). Law schools want to see rigor in your academics, meaning that double majors and minors are extremely beneficial. And CMU has several majors and minors that are made up of many (or even all) law classes, so you can prepare for law school while taking classes that improve your law school applications!

One such minor is the new Public Law minor, which just rolled out this year. It’s been very successful so far, and we are adding new classes to it all the time. If you have any interest in public interest law, and/or adding a law-based minor or second minor to your resume, I would be happy to discuss the Public Law minor with you. Just let me know!

Law School Advising

It’s that time of year when law school acceptances, waitlisting, and rejections are rolling in. Scholarship offers, while often slower, are starting to come in as well. If you need help navigating your offers or waitlists, or want to try negotiating your scholarship offers, or just want advice from a sympathetic and knowledgeable person outside of your family and friend groups, please make an advising appointment! I would be more than happy to help you figure out your next steps.

That’s all for now! Be sure to reach out with any questions!
